Frequently Asked Questions about BAYADA

In 1975, 27-year-old Mark Baiada invested his life savings in a belief: that everyone deserves a safe home life with comfort, independence, and dignity. Since then, that belief has led us to diligently, strategically, and compassionately deliver our care services to more than one million people of all ages across six countries, and growing every year.

He opened our first office in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Today, we’ve grown into a nonprofit organization that provides nursing, rehabilitative, therapeutic, hospice, and assistive care services to children, adults, and seniors in the comfort of their own homes—24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

BAYADA Home Health Care has a special purpose—to help people have a safe home life with comfort, independence, and dignity. At BAYADA, we seek, find, train, and champion those people who take pride and joy in healing. We match them one-to-one with the clients who can benefit most from their experience, compassion, and skill. And we support and fortify them at every step with training, technology, and teamwork.

BAYADA was founded on the principle that health care gets better when people get care at home—the place where they feel the best. And from the nurse, therapist, or aide at the bedside to the database managers, reimbursement specialists, and thousands of committed people who make this company work, delivering that care is our highest priority and greatest joy. It’s what we mean when we say, at the end of every day: WE LOVE WHAT WE DO.

BAYADA provides specialized services to best meet the unique needs of similar client populations, and to support the expertise of our clinicians who want to be at the top of their license for their specific field. Our comprehensive service offering across the continuum of care includes: Home Health, Adult Nursing, Assistive Care, Assistive Care State Programs, Pediatrics, Hospice, Behavioral Health, Habilitation, Staffing, and Physician Services.

The BAYADA Way ® is our company philosophy that expresses our organization’s mission, vision, beliefs, and core values of compassion, excellence, and reliability. These values are ever-present in our daily work. Its tenets are timeless, as it is our shared “true north” that embodies the essence of what we stand for, believe in, and value. The BAYADA Way is the purpose that brings meaning to our daily work—a set of guiding principles that keeps us together, and sets us apart.

Health care forecasters tell us what we’ve always believed: that people live and thrive best in the place they most want to be—home. We understand that to truly meet the needs of a changing health care system and an aging population, we must look toward trends emphasizing integrated care and population health as the future of health care.

Taking a holistic view of health care—where home is the stable center—brings together all the health, social, financial, and emotional factors that keep people safe, healthy, and happy. Having the unique perspective of being that careful, watchful eye in the home, we are able to see how people live, with what they are struggling, and how we can best address their needs.

As evidenced in our transition to nonprofit status, we are pioneers in home health care, and see it as our responsibility to advance and transform what is possible for the benefit of our clients and their families. Demand for our services is projected to keep increasing, so we are constantly looking for talented home health care professionals who share our innate passion for helping and healing, and who are called to a higher level of service, to join BAYADA, where you will always have a place of value.

BAYADA is a great place to work if you want to join an organization that’s mission-driven, family-friendly, and people-focused. Employee recognition is a big part of working here—no accomplishment goes unacknowledged. Our Hero program is our flagship recognition initiative for clinicians who meet or exceed expectations in each of the company’s core values of compassion, excellence, and reliability.

We also express our employee appreciation by offering talent referral bonuses, awards for performance and years of service, weekly pay, a wide range of health insurance and retirement savings options—including employer contributions—and flexibility and autonomy that values work/life balance.

Our most successful people have a desire to help that comes from within; they were born to do this kind of work. They have big hearts and high standards—demonstrating The BAYADA Way ® core values of compassion, excellence, and reliability in their daily work and interactions with every client, partner, and colleague.

We offer flexible schedules and whenever possible, we strive to accommodate your preferences and give our aides, nurses, therapists, and other clinicians the ability to choose when and where they want to work.

Simply stated, we look for someone who has the competence and experience to handle the role. We also look at personalities and interests, the family fit, and the entire range of reasons why people work well together. Before our clinicians and clients ever meet, BAYADA goes the extra mile to make sure we’re not just matching need to specialty or skill. BAYADA takes pride in getting to know our clients and their families and matching them with caregivers who have compatible personalities and interests. That’s a big part of the BAYADA difference—setting you up for success by enabling you to truly connect with clients and family members and develop trusting, fulfilling relationships. Considering work/life balance, we also strive to match our caregivers with clients who are close to home.

It depends on the home health care specialty you choose. For example, if you provide one-hour home health visits to help a client recover from surgery or to manage a chronic condition, you’ll see your client on a regular basis over a short term, until they meet their goals. If you provide skilled nursing for our clients who are chronically ill or children or adults with disabilities—or personal care for a senior—it could be indefinitely. Some of our professionals have worked with the same client for more than 30 years, and they love each other like family. Many say it doesn’t even feel like work.
